The Scuola Normale Superiore of Pisa (Italy)
is opening a Tenure Track professorship  (RTD-B) in condensed matter theory.

Research activity:
The winner will be carrying out research aimed at topics relevant to the s.s.d. FIS/03 – Physics of Matter,with particular reference to the study of quantum effects pertinent to the theory of quantum in-formation, computation and communication. The above activities include the analysis and develop-ment of quantum protocols in the presence of background noise, the application of machine learning techniques to their development, the characterisation of entanglement and of quantum mechanical coherence in complex systems, and the analysis of decoherence and thermalisation processes of the same.

Teaching activity:
The selected researcher's tasks of teaching, supplementary teaching and services to students will involve giving lectures and practicals, tutoring to PhD students and any teaching support with ref-erence to the s.c. FIS/03, sc. 02/B2 in accordance with the specifications of the plans laid out by the competent academic bodies on a yearly basis and according to the requirements of the Faculty. In particular, the researcher may be en-gaged in a practical course in Quantum Computation for the PhD course and a basic course in Quantum Optics open to both undergraduate and PhD students.
