A postdoctoral research fellowship is available immediately in the Hirschfeld and Hennig research groups in the Physics and Materials Science Departments at the University of Florida in the area of data informatics for the discovery of novel superconductors. The position is for up to three years, depending upon significant achievement and mutual interest.

Project Description: The successful candidate will help develop a high-throughput scheme using machine-learning and first-principles based computational descriptors to identify promising materials for superconductivity in large materials database for subsequent experimental analysis.

Qualifications: The applicant must have a Ph.D. in theoretical physics, chemistry, materials science, or a closely related field. This position requires a strong theoretical scientist with demonstrated experience in at least two of the following areas: electronic structure theory, machine learning methods, superconductivity theory, and software development. The applicant should be able to work independently and to participate creatively in refining research directions. The scientific results are expected to be presented at national meetings and published in peer-reviewed journals. The applicant must have excellent oral and written communication skills in English and be able to interact effectively with experimental and computational members of the team.

Application: To apply, please provide a full curriculum vitae (including a list of all publications), contact information for three (3) references, abrief statement of research interests before September 1, 2019,by email to Ms. Mary Remer, Condensed Matter Theory, U.
