Postdoc Opening in the Dave C. Swalm School of Chemical Engineering at Mississippi State University

There is an opening for a postdoctoral researcher in the Molecular Science and Engineering Lab (http://railab.che.msstate.edu/) in Dave C. Swalm School of Chemical Engineering at Mississippi State University. The candidate is expected to perform computational research to understand diffusion and self-assembly of complex molecules (oligomers and polymers), and develop advanced molecular dynamics and Monte Carlo tools for modeling thermodynamic and transport properties.

Applicants must have a Ph.D. degree in chemical engineering, chemistry, physics, or a related discipline. Experience in advanced molecular dynamics and/or Monte Carlo, force field development, and programming experience is required. Experience in first principles molecular dynamics and Monte Carlo simulations can be beneficial.

The postdoctoral associate position is a full-time, benefits-eligible 12-month basis appointment. The initial appointment is for one year with a possibility of extension based on the performance and the availability of funding.

Applicants should apply via the MSU employment website (http://www.msujobs.msstate.edu JOB #: 499230) and include a detailed vita, a statement of research interests and career goals, and the names and addresses of three references.  Review of applications will begin September 15, 2019, and continue until the position is filled.

MSU is one of the largest public institutions of higher learning in the state of Mississippi. MSU had over $239.4 million in research expenditure for the year 2016. In addition, High Performance Computing Collaboratory (HPC2) provides a number of highly capable supercomputers for computational research at MSU. MSU campus is spread over nearly 4000 acres and provides an ideal setting for research and extracurricular activities.

MSU is an equal opportunity employer, and all qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, ethnicity, sex (including pregnancy and gender identity), national origin, disability status, age, sexual orientation, genetic information, protected veteran status, or any other characteristic protected by law.
