We are looking for a PhD student to work on atomic-scale modelling of dislocations in body-centered cubic metals using ab initio methods, see summary and references attached. The position requires holding a MS or ME with knowledge in quantum physics, solid state physics and/or materials science (programming skills will be highly appreciated). The research will be performed at IJL (Nancy, France), in collaboration with CEA (Saclay, France) and ILM (Lyon, France) and a collaboration with UCLA (CA, USA) is envisionned.
