The Materials Modeling Group at the University of Illinois at Chicago, Department of Physics, has an immediate opening for a Postdoctoral Research Associate to work on further developments of many-body perturbation theory methods (GW and Bethe-Salpeter-Equation) and their applications to transition metal oxide nanoclusters.

The successful candidate is expected to conduct research aimed at understanding the level of theory needed for accurate descriptions of electronic and optical excitations in transition metal oxide clusters and nanocrystals. In addition, the candidate is expected to code various implementations of many-body perturbation theory techniques on high-performance computing platforms.

Applications are invited from highly motivated individuals with a PhD degree by the time of the appointment, expertise in first principles excited state formalisms (a good background in many-body-perturbation theory methods, such as GWBSE,  is preferred) and good programming skills (e.g. Fortran 90, Python). Applications should be submitted at https://jobs.uic.edu/job-board/job-details?jobID=81273 and include curriculum vitae with a list of publications, a cover letter including a brief statement of research interests and accomplishments, and the names and email addresses of two references. For general information about this position, please contact Prof. Serdar Ogut at [email protected].

The University of Illinois at Chicago is an Equal Opportunity, Affirmative Action employer. Minorities, women, veterans and individuals with disabilities are encouraged to apply.
