There are several PhD position openings in Prof. Jianwei Sun's group at Tulane University. The group is centered around the density functional theory (DFT) developments and its applications. The current focus of DFT development is on nonlocal density functionals, in particular, the local hybrid density functionals, with special attention on understanding exchange correlation holes of strongly correlated systems. The state-of-art density functionals as well as those to be developed will be tested and applied to transition metal compounds, especially those magnetic topological low-dimensional and strongly correlated materials, that have potential applications in quantum information science and renewable energy fields.
