The theory group at CNR-IOM (Consiglio Nazionale delle Ricerche - Istituto Officina dei Materiali, https://www.iom.cnr.it/research-facilities/facilities-labs/theory-simulation/) in Trieste, Italy, is opening two new positions, starting in early 2023. These are fixed-term Researcher positions (Ricercatore a tempo determinato), with full benefits and salary identical to permanent staff members. Contracts will be for 1-year, with funding already secured for extension to a second year. Funding for the two positions is provided by the Next Generation EU plan, through the following initiatives:

(1) National Centre for HPC, Big Data and Quantum Computing - Spoke on Materials and Molecular Sciences
(2) NEST: Network for Energy Sustainable Transition - Spoke on Clean Hydrogen

Research topics will involve the use of first-principles simulations to model materials and processes relevant to the transition to renewable energy sources. These include fuel cells, (photo)electrochemical devices, batteries, dye-sensitized solar cells. The projects will involve close collaborations with leading experimental groups active in the field and synergy with other projects funded through the same schemes.

Candidates are expected to have extensive experience in the field of first-principles simulations, with a solid track record in terms of publications. Moreover, candidates are expected to show the potential to develop independent research lines.

To express an interest in these positions, candidates should send an email to [email protected] including their CV, a cover letter and a list of three academic references.

Best regards,
