Job announcements relevant to people interested in electronic structure calculations…

Due to the large number of posts recently, there is currently a delay of several weeks between posts being submitted and the corresponding emails being distributed to all users. Please bear with us while we try to improve this. In the meantime – and until this notice is removed – it would assist us considerably if you could submit only important and/or urgent posts and thus help to reduce the size of the mail queue. Under no circumstances should you resend posts multiple times when you find the emails are not distributed immediately.

In light of the Russian military offensive in Ukraine, we request that announcements relating to events, jobs and other activities associated with institutions supported by the Russian and Belarusian states are not posted to the Psi-k forum.

Two Assistant Professor positions in Quantum Technology at Trinity College

The School of Physics, in collaboration with the Center for Research on Adaptive Nanostructures
and Nanodevices (CRANN), invite applications for two positions of Assistant Professor in Quantum
Science and Technology. These are part of a large effort to create a Quantum Technology Hub at
Trinity College, including collaboration with other Irish research organizations and industry, and
with the vision of becoming the focal point for quantum research in Ireland.
The ideal candidates will have a growing or established research profile in their respective specialist areas and a promising publication record. They should provide evidence of clear impact in the field and have a keen ambition to establish an innovative research program at Trinity College. The successful candidate will be expected to contribute in shaping the MSc in Quantum Science and Technology, due to start at Trinity College Dublin in September 2021, funded by the Higher Education Authority (Ireland), under the Human Capital Initiative Programme. It is intended that one appointment will be made in each of the two areas of expertise given below but we reserve the right to appoint both successful candidates from only one of the areas.

Area of Expertise: Quantum Algorithms/Computation
The ideal candidate is expected to work in the broad area of quantum algorithms development and
use. Experience in developing quantum algorithms in the domains of quantum chemistry, materials
science, machine learning and quantum optimization will be considered as a priority. Previous
experience with existing physical quantum infrastructures will also be favourably considered,
although it is not essential.

Area of Expertise: Theory of Quantum Simulation
The ideal candidate is expected to work in the area of quantum science, with a particular emphasis
on quantum computation/simulations on actual physical platform, such as cold atoms in optical
lattices, ions traps, NV centres or quantum spin systems. Areas of research could include, quantum
control, quantum error correction, quantum complexity, theory of quantum open systems, theory
of quantum information processing, although other areas will be also considered.

Applications must be submitted online at:
