Job announcements relevant to people interested in electronic structure calculations…

Due to the large number of posts recently, there is currently a delay of several weeks between posts being submitted and the corresponding emails being distributed to all users. Please bear with us while we try to improve this. In the meantime – and until this notice is removed – it would assist us considerably if you could submit only important and/or urgent posts and thus help to reduce the size of the mail queue. Under no circumstances should you resend posts multiple times when you find the emails are not distributed immediately.

In light of the Russian military offensive in Ukraine, we request that announcements relating to events, jobs and other activities associated with institutions supported by the Russian and Belarusian states are not posted to the Psi-k forum.

We have several postdoc positions at

THE NOMAD (Novel Materials Discovery) LABORATORY
at the Fritz Haber Institute of the Max Planck Society and the Humboldt Universität zu Berlin https://th.fhi-berlin.mpg.de/site/

and the associated
NOMAD European Center of Excellence (https://nomad-coe.eu/).

You will work with world leading scientists and actively shape cutting-edge materials-science research. Specifically, you will be part of an international team working on

-- Fully Anharmonic, Non-Perturbative Electrical-Transport Theory and Thermoelectric Materials discovery (by ab initio molecular dynamics/statistical mechanics)
--  Advancing beyond DFT methodologies (e.g. GW and coupled cluster approaches) toward exascale performance.

The methods to be used are the all-electron electronic-structure code FHI-aims, https://fhi-aims.org/, which is increasingly linked to various state-of-the-art artificial intelligence tools, e.g. symbolic regression and compressed sensing (SISSO) as well as neural networks (see for example https://nomad-lab.eu/aitoolkit).

The positions are initially for one year, but prolongations are possible.

We are looking for candidates who recently obtained their PhD with highest qualification in computational materials science or related fields, a strong programming background (python, C++, Fortran etc.), and experience on coding for HPC (massively parallel MPI, GPUs, etc.).

Please submit the following application documents

- Letter of motivation (max. 1 page)
- Curriculum vitae
- Contact information of supervisors, previous employers, or similar
- Certificates

as one PDF file to [email protected].

We are looking forward to receiving your application!

Matthias Scheffler, Christian Carbogno, and Thomas Purcell
