Job announcements relevant to people interested in electronic structure calculations…

Due to the large number of posts recently, there is currently a delay of several weeks between posts being submitted and the corresponding emails being distributed to all users. Please bear with us while we try to improve this. In the meantime – and until this notice is removed – it would assist us considerably if you could submit only important and/or urgent posts and thus help to reduce the size of the mail queue. Under no circumstances should you resend posts multiple times when you find the emails are not distributed immediately.

In light of the Russian military offensive in Ukraine, we request that announcements relating to events, jobs and other activities associated with institutions supported by the Russian and Belarusian states are not posted to the Psi-k forum.

The division Theoretical Chemistry is looking for a Research Associate, starting as soon as possible.

Your tasks/responsibilities:

The new research group of Prof. Frank Ortmann was recently established at TU München (TUM) to strengthen theoretical and computational research in the strategic field of energy conversion. The group is also part of the Cluster of Excellence “e-conversion” and the Technische Universität München is consistently ranked among the top universities in Europe. Our research benefits from highest-level experimental collaborations. Additional information about the group can be found at http://www.department.ch.tum.de/tms.

Your activities will include conducting research projects in theoretical modelling and computer simulations of electron transport and excitons in organic materials in the context of organic solar cells and require the ability to work relatively independently and take responsibility for the progress of the projects.

Your qualifications:

For a successful application, an excellent Master degree in Physics, Chemistry or an equivalent degree will be necessary at the starting time of the PhD project.

The candidate is expected to have a background in theoretical chemistry or theoretical physics with relevant analytical skills as well as strong interest and pertinent experience with computer simulations and programming.

Knowledge of ab initio simulations and electronic transport methodologies would be of advantage. Very good communication and writing skills in English are further expected.
