We have an opening for a post-doctoral researcher in the Kanai Group at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill (UNC).
For the post-doctoral position, we seek a self-driven researcher who contributes to the mission of the newly established DOE Solar Fuels Energy Hub, CHASE (https://www.energy.gov/articles/department-energy-announces-100-million-artificial-photosynthesis-research), located at UNC Chapel Hill. The $40 million DOE Energy Hub is led by UNC Chapel Hill with partner institutions (Yale, Penn, NCSU, Emory, and Brookhaven Nat’l Lab). The post-doctoral candidate must have extensive and demonstrated experience in developing and/or applying first-principles electronic structure methods to investigate complex materials and molecular systems (e.g. DFT/TDDFT, FPMD, GW/BSE, etc). Much of work is likely to focus on material-molecule interfaces. Experience with the use of high-performance/massively-parallel computers is expected. In addition to leading theory/computational projects of his/her own, the candidate is also expected to take initiatives in working closely with other experimental and theory groups within CHASE.
Chapel Hill is frequently ranked among best places to live in the U.S., and it is part of the highly vibrant region, Research Triangle, anchored by three research universities (University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, Duke University, and North Carolina State University) surrounding IT and biotech companies in Research Triangle Park.
Candidates must have obtained a PhD in physics, chemistry or materials science (or a related discipline). The candidate is expected to be self-driven and highly versatile. The position is available to be filled immediately, and it is renewable yearly upon mutual agreement.
