Job announcements relevant to people interested in electronic structure calculations…

Due to the large number of posts recently, there is currently a delay of several weeks between posts being submitted and the corresponding emails being distributed to all users. Please bear with us while we try to improve this. In the meantime – and until this notice is removed – it would assist us considerably if you could submit only important and/or urgent posts and thus help to reduce the size of the mail queue. Under no circumstances should you resend posts multiple times when you find the emails are not distributed immediately.

In light of the Russian military offensive in Ukraine, we request that announcements relating to events, jobs and other activities associated with institutions supported by the Russian and Belarusian states are not posted to the Psi-k forum.

Solid-state batteries are currently very actively studied in the world and more particularly at CEA, the leading institution for energy research in France.

At variance with the conventional Li batteries, solid-state batteries use a solid-state electrolyte, which offers numerous potential advantages in terms of safety, cycling performance, etc.

This project is part of coordinated experimental and theoretical effort in CEA to study an electrolyte candidate, argorydite Li6PS5Cl (LPSC).

Intriguing physical phenomena occur at the Cathode - Solid Electrolyte Interface with a so-far unexplained stability of LPSC for instance. The postdoctoral project will focus on the theoretical simulation with ab initio and statistical physics calculations of the thermodynamic stability and diffusion kinetics of LPSC to explain the extraordinary properties of this material.

Us

The postdoctoral fellow will join the lab “Service de Recherches de Métallurgie Physique” located at CEA Saclay / Université Paris-Saclay and work under the supervision of Dr. Fabien Bruneval, https://scholar.google.fr/citations?user=6Do-N4oAAAAJ and Dr. Maylise Nastar, https://scholar.google.fr/citations?user=p04TJ-IAAAAJ.

Our lab has a strong expertise in numerical methods for material science, ranging from ab initio calculations to machine-learning potentials, statistical physics methods, and data science.

You

We are looking for a junior postdoctoral fellow with a solid experience in material science and ab initio calculations. Good communication skills are required as the project will involve several partners: a local PhD student, another theoretical postdoctoral fellow in CEA Grenoble and several experimental groups.

Please send your application including a detailed CV, a cover letter and recommendation letters to both Fabien Bruneval ([email protected]) and Maylise Nastar ([email protected]).
