Postdoctoral position at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill (USA)
We have an opening for a post-doctoral researcher position at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill (UNC). The post-doctoral researcher will be supervised jointly by Prof. Yosuke Kanai (UNC) and Prof. Volker Blum (Duke University). Frequent visits to Duke University (20 min driving) are anticipated for this position.
We seek a self-driven researcher who contributes to the mission of the collaboration among UNC, Duke, and North Carolina State University on investigating novel optical/electronic properties of hybrid organic-inorganic perovskite materials. As a part of the work, the post-doctoral researcher will enhance and apply state-of-the-art electronic structure methods within the FHI-aims code (https://fhi-aims.org), whose development is led by Prof. Volker Blum (Duke), as well as in related open-source frameworks. Experiences with programming in electronic structure codes and with performing calculations on HPCs are expected.
Chapel Hill is frequently ranked among the best places to live in the U.S., and it is part of the highly vibrant region, Research Triangle, anchored by three research universities (University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, Duke University, and North Carolina State University) surrounding numerous IT and biotech companies in Research Triangle Park.
Candidates must have obtained a PhD in physics, chemistry, or materials science (or a related discipline) before the start of this post-doc position. The candidate is expected to be self-driven and highly versatile. The position is available to be filled immediately, and it is renewable yearly upon mutual agreement. The initial salary is set at US$ 48,504/year along with health insurance benefits.
