Job announcements relevant to people interested in electronic structure calculations…

Due to the large number of posts recently, there is currently a delay of several weeks between posts being submitted and the corresponding emails being distributed to all users. Please bear with us while we try to improve this. In the meantime – and until this notice is removed – it would assist us considerably if you could submit only important and/or urgent posts and thus help to reduce the size of the mail queue. Under no circumstances should you resend posts multiple times when you find the emails are not distributed immediately.

In light of the Russian military offensive in Ukraine, we request that announcements relating to events, jobs and other activities associated with institutions supported by the Russian and Belarusian states are not posted to the Psi-k forum.

The Quantum Theory of Materials Group at CFM is offering a postdoctoral (1+1 years)
position starting ideally in January 2022 to work with Prof. Ion Errea, in the theoretical
development and maintainance of the Stochastic-Self Consistent Harmonic Approximation
(SSCHA) code.

The positions will be funded by the IKUR strategy. IKUR is the strategy promoted by the
Education Department of the Basque Government to boost Scientific Research in specific
strategic areas and to position the Basque Country at the forefront of international research
in those fields.

Center. The salary will be 34.780,80€ before taxes for the first year.

The Quantum Theory of Materials Group at the Center of Materials Physics. Current
research topics in the group include the development of new first principles techniques for
the study of materials’ properties and their application to systems of interest such as
hydrogen-based superconductors, CDW materials, thermoelectrics, and so on. The SSCHA
code, which allows to calculate thermodynamic and vibrational properties of solids including
ionic quantum effects and anharmonicity, is developed and maintained in the group. For
more information about the SSCHA method visits the website http://sscha.eu/

Candidates must hold a PhD degree in Physics/Chemistry/Electrical Engineering or similar,
preferably in the field of first-principles calculations. Expertise in ab initio code development
will be highly appreciated for this particular position, as well as a strong background with
