A 3-years postdoc position is available (group of Fritz Körmann) at the Max-Planck-Institut für Eisenforschung GmbH in Düsseldorf, Germany.

Topic
The project aims to explore high entropy alloys via ab initio approaches and recently developed machine learning potentials. The interplay between chemical short-range order, interstitial alloying, magnetism and properties such as the stacking fault energies will be investigated by means of ab initio and atomistic simulations. The computational project will be carried out in the project group of Fritz Körmann in close collaboration with experimental colleagues at the MPIE.

Qualifications
PhD degree in theoretical or computational physics, chemistry, material science or corresponding fields. The ideal candidate should have prior experience in at least one of the following areas: application of DFT for complex alloys (e.g., high entropy alloys with SQS or CPA methods), phase stability calculations, defect calculations, magnetism, Monte Carlo simulations, python programming.

Starting date
Spring/summer 2021 (negotiable).

Application
Online under the following link APPLICATION (https://recruitingapp-5424.de.umantis.com/Vacancies/345/Description/2)

For more information about the position itself, please contact Fritz Körmann ([email protected]) directly.
