We are looking for a postdoc to join a project entitled ‘Manipulating strain in soft crystalline semiconductors’ funded by the Leverhulme Trust.

The work brings together the expertise of Prof. Aron Walsh in materials modelling, Dr Sam Stranks (University of Cambridge) in materials and device spectroscopy, and Dr Paul Quinn (Diamond Light Source) in synchrotron-based imaging and microscopy. The aim is to develop a thorough understanding of electro-chemo-mechanical coupling in halide perovskite semiconductors and exploit this understanding to demonstrate novel optoelectronic behaviour.

As a member of the Thomas Young Centre and Department of Materials at Imperial College, you will develop and apply computational approaches to probe and manipulate strain in halide perovskite semiconductors. This will involve first-principles electronic structure calculations of charged defect phenomena, coupled with data-driven machine learning and multi-scale models.

The closing date is 6 September with a start date in January 2022 and a duration of 3 years. The full application details are available on https://www.imperial.ac.uk/jobs/description/ENG01817/research-associate-modelling-perovskite-solar-cells
