Materials Physics Center (Donostia / San Sebastián)

The Spectroscopy at atomic scale Group at CFM offers a postdoctoral position (1 year) starting before February 2023 to work with Prof. Lucia Vitali.

The Spectroscopy at atomic scale Group at the Materials Physics Center offers a position in the area of experimental surface science focusing on moiré patterns of two-dimensional materials beyond graphene. Our aim is the local characterization of these materials correlating structural and electronic properties. Interface-induced properties such as Moiré patterning and their implication in charge transport will be specifically addressed.

The activities undertaken by this postdoctoral researcher are an integral part of the "I+D project Programa de Apoyo a la Red Guipuzcoana de Ciencia y Tecnología e Innovación 2022" funded by the Diputación Foral de Guipuzcoa.

Candidates must hold a doctorate in Physics or Physical chemistry, preferably in the field of Condensed Matter. Applicants with expertise in Scanning tunneling microscopy/ scanning tunneling Spectroscopy, cryogenic temperatures, and Surface Science experimental research techniques in an ultra-high vacuum environment will be highly valued. The selected candidate will be hired by the Research Association MPC - Materials Physics Center.
The salary will be 35.650,44 euros a year before taxes.
