Postdoctoral Position in Condensed Matter Theory
A post-doc position is available in the Theoretical Physics Division at Linköping University, Sweden.
The project is funded through an untaxed research scholarship of €2500 / month. The appointment is for one year and may be extended for an additional year.
The post-doc researcher will work with Dr. Marcus Ekholm in the Theoretical Physics Division, which is headed by prof. Igor Abrikosov. The work will consist of ab-initio simulations of magnetic insulators at ambient and high pressure. Communication of research results in journal articles and by oral presentations is expected as well.
Requirements:
A Ph.D. degree obtained in Physics, Solid State Physics, Materials Science, Chemistry or a closely related area.
Profound knowledge of electronic structure theory, condensed matter physics and density functional theory.
Documented experience and hands-on skill in at least one major ab-initio computational code, e.g., VASP, Quantum Espresso, Wien2k, ELK, exciting, FLEUR, FP-SPR-KKR, RSPt.
Excellent English language and communication skills.
A proactive mindset and goal-oriented work ethic
The ideal candidate should also have experience of work with any of the following: quantum magnetism, non-collinear magnetism, phase stability calculations, surface/interface physics, strongly correlated materials, Mott insulators, dynamical mean-field theory or other many-body techniques.
