About Virtual Engineering Center
The Virtual Engineering Center at Korea Institute of Ceramic Engineering and Technology (KICET) in South Korea is accepting applications for research positions in the fields of Materials Science and Engineering.
KICET is a government-funded, highly ranked, and active research institute in materials science and engineering in South Korea. The KICET has reputed research staff engaged in nationally and internationally recognized research programs on diverse materials science. Please visit our website at http://www.kicet.re.kr for more details.
Areas of interest include atomic-scale simulations (DFT and MD), continuum-scale simulations (FEM), and materials informatics using machine learning (ML). The application areas of simulation span power semiconductors, energy harvesters, dielectrics, batteries, and structural ceramics, and related processing. Recently, we are integrating our computational tools and database with machine learning for smart manufacturing. Experience in simulation, programming, and machine learning is preferred but not necessary.
What we are looking for:
The research topics are as follows
Multiscale modeling of lithium battery materials and synthesis process
Multiscale modeling of semiconductor materials and deposition process
Multiscale modeling of hydrovoltaic and triboelectric energy harvesters
Each topic will be studied with close collaboration with the experimental groups and ML groups. We are looking for a Ph.D. who has experience in DFT, FEM, or both.
Required Qualifications:
Experiences in simulation or modeling
First-principles calculation code (VASP and CP2K are preferred)
Molecular dynamics or DFTB codes (LAMMPS and DFTB+ are preferred)
FEM-based multiphysics codes (COMSOL and ANSYS are preferred)
ML-based experience (Scikit-learn, Tensorflow, Pytorch, and so on)
Required Application Materials:
Following the government hiring rule, you should fill the regulated form. The form includes a cover letter, publication list (and proof), statement of your research skills.
Please visit the homepage (https://www.kicet.re.kr) and apply using the portal. Only the application via the homepage is valid.
A more detailed application guide is attached.
