Job announcements relevant to people interested in electronic structure calculations…

Due to the large number of posts recently, there is currently a delay of several weeks between posts being submitted and the corresponding emails being distributed to all users. Please bear with us while we try to improve this. In the meantime – and until this notice is removed – it would assist us considerably if you could submit only important and/or urgent posts and thus help to reduce the size of the mail queue. Under no circumstances should you resend posts multiple times when you find the emails are not distributed immediately.

In light of the Russian military offensive in Ukraine, we request that announcements relating to events, jobs and other activities associated with institutions supported by the Russian and Belarusian states are not posted to the Psi-k forum.

A post-doc position is available at the Department of Materials Science of the University of Milano-Bicocca (Milano, Italy) in the group of Cristiana Di Valentin (www.nanoQlab.mater.unimib.it).

The position is sponsored by the ERC Consolidator grant (2016-2021) entitled: "Smart bioinorganic hybrids for nanomedicine". The core objective of this project is the investigation of functionalized metal oxide nanoparticles with biomolecules (oligopeptides, proteins, oligonucleotides, DNA fragments, drugs) for nanomedical applications in drug delivery, imaging, biomimesis and phototherapy.

We are seeking a post-doc with experience in QM/MM methods and MD simulations. Experience with scientific programming and scripting ability are also highly desirable. Candidates should have a PhD in chemistry or related disciplines, be fluent in written and spoken English, with an emerging track record of peer-reviewed publications.

The project involves the collaboration with Iceland University, Technical University of Denmark and Dresden University.

NanoQlab provides access to unique computational resources.

The starting date is expected to be February 2019. The position is available for a two-year appointment, but could be extended upon mutual agreement. The net monthly salary is roughly 2100-2300 euros, depending on the successful candidate's experience.

Those who are interested should send an updated CV, a list of publications, a short research profile and three contact addresses of academic references (preferably by email) to Prof. Cristiana Di Valentin ([email protected]).
