PhD position in computational physics for photonics materials at Tampere University in project "QMC Evaluation of Optical Hyper Polarizabilities of 2D Materials for Photonics"

The project target is development of Path Integral Monte Carlo (PIMC) and other QMC methods at first-principles / ab initio level for simulations of linear and nonlinear materials properties and optical response. PIMC methods allow finite temperature equilibrium simulations at free energy minimum – the most realistic description of steady state matter from first-principles. For more background see iki.fi/trantala/paths

From the candidate we expect proper MSc degree, good motivation, strong programming skills and some experience in electronic structure theory and methods.

To apply send your CV, possible list of publications, letter of your motivation and skills, and contact information of possible referees, by eMail to [email protected].
Deadline is the end of July.

The project is funded by the Academy of Finland (aka.fi) and planned to start in September 2022. For more information contact prof. Tapio Rantala ([email protected]).
