Two PhD positions are available in Gian-Marco Rignanese Research Group at UCLouvain in Belgium. The research will focus on employing artificial intelligence to accelerate the development of all solid-state batteries. The aim is to unravel the relation between manufacturing parameters, electrode properties and battery cell performance. Part of this position includes collaboration with local industry partners. We are looking for a highly motivated candidate interested in contributing to the growing body of battery research and development.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Building artificial intelligence models
  • Predicting battery performance and lifespan
  • Contributing to a FAIR database of publicly available battery data
  • Unraveling the relation between different aspects of battery manufacturing and performance
  • Collaborating with local and international partners

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Master’s degree in computational physics, materials science, or related fields
  • Experience with artificial intelligence methods for engineering applications
  • Written and spoken English proficiency
  • Background in artificial intelligence methods for battery applications
  • Experience in reporting to management
  • Written and spoken English proficiency

Ab initio (from electronic structure) calculation of complex processes in materials
