Job announcements relevant to people interested in electronic structure calculations…

Due to the large number of posts recently, there is currently a delay of several weeks between posts being submitted and the corresponding emails being distributed to all users. Please bear with us while we try to improve this. In the meantime – and until this notice is removed – it would assist us considerably if you could submit only important and/or urgent posts and thus help to reduce the size of the mail queue. Under no circumstances should you resend posts multiple times when you find the emails are not distributed immediately.

In light of the Russian military offensive in Ukraine, we request that announcements relating to events, jobs and other activities associated with institutions supported by the Russian and Belarusian states are not posted to the Psi-k forum.

We are looking for an enthusiastic and skilled researcher with expertise in one or more of the following fields: DFT, TDDFT simulations, theoretical chemistry simulations, Multi-scale simulations, molecular ultrafast dynamics, strong-field physics, to join the Computational and Applied Materials Science (CAMS) team led by Dr. Mousumi Upadhyay Kahaly, in Ultrafast Science division at ELI-ALPS.

The research work would focus on photoresponse in materials (through semi-analytical approach and quantum chemistry simulations) and modeling their ultrafast electron dynamics towards tailored applications.CAMS team members actively participate in user support and user experiments in close collaboration with experimentalists.

WHO CAN APPLY?

· Candidates interested in joining PhD program immediately/ having Ph.D. (or equivalent foreign degree) in physics, physical chemistry, materials science, or related field at the time of application/ candidates who will complete their PhD studies in the near future.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS

· Experience of DFT, TDDFT and/or Molecular Dynamics simulations, or knowledge of other quantum chemistry tools.

· Adequate programming skills, knowledge of coding

· Good knowledge of Mathematics and Quantum physics. Good English communication skills.

· Hands-on experience with molecular ultrafast dynamics, strong-field physics, high-harmonic generation

About ELI-ALPS:

The Extreme Light Infrastructure (ELI) https://www.eli-alps.hu/ project is an integral part of the European plan to build the next generation of large research facilities identified and selected by the European Strategy Forum on Research Infrastructures (ESFRI). ELI is the first infrastructure in the world able to investigate interactions between light and matter with the highest intensity, in the so-called ultrarelativistic range. ELI will have a considerable impact on numerous fields of materials science, medicine and environmental protection. The primary mission of the ELI-ALPS Szeged research facility is to make a wide range of ultrashort light sources accessible to user groups in the international scientific community.

We offer an exciting scientific environment in a new European research institute that covers a broad scope of scientific areas and is equipped with unique laser infrastructure. ELI-ALPS offers competitive salaries in regional comparison. The city of Szeged provides pleasant living conditions.

Job location: Szeged, Hungary.
