Job announcements relevant to people interested in electronic structure calculations…

Due to the large number of posts recently, there is currently a delay of several weeks between posts being submitted and the corresponding emails being distributed to all users. Please bear with us while we try to improve this. In the meantime – and until this notice is removed – it would assist us considerably if you could submit only important and/or urgent posts and thus help to reduce the size of the mail queue. Under no circumstances should you resend posts multiple times when you find the emails are not distributed immediately.

In light of the Russian military offensive in Ukraine, we request that announcements relating to events, jobs and other activities associated with institutions supported by the Russian and Belarusian states are not posted to the Psi-k forum.

Ph.D. Position (f/m) in Theoretical Physics of Energy Materials

Our research group on Theory of Functional Energy Materials was recently launched at the Department of Physics, TU Munich. The group is led by Prof. David Egger and supported via a prestigious Sofja Kovalevskaja award of the Humboldt Foundation – see http://www.theoFEM.de for more information.

Currently, we seek one Ph.D. student for exciting theoretical and computational research on energy materials. Projects of interest are focused on theoretical method development as well as numerical implementation in the context of quantum dynamics and electron-phonon coupling for solar materials and semiconductors. We are a team of young scientists and offer exciting Ph.D. research in an internationally leading environment, including the opportunity of collaborations with experimental partners.

We are looking for motivated students with strong interests in pursuing research on theory of materials, who are excellent team players and have an M.Sc. degree in physics. First experiences with electronic structure techniques are an asset, computer and programing skills (Fortran, python, C, etc.) as well as a high proficiency in English are a must.

To apply, please send your curriculum vitae, a transcript of your M.Sc. degree, and a brief statement that explains your motivation for pursuing a Ph.D. (all in English) to Prof. David Egger by email:
