Dear Colleagues,

a Postdoctoral Associate position is available in the Quantum Materials Theory group led by Sergey Artyukhin. The position is at the headquarters of the Italian Institute of Technology in Genova, Italy.
The Associate will combine Landau theory, model Hamiltonians and first-principles calculations to study materials with complex ferroic orders. The interests of the group are in

  • realistic modelling of materials with complex orders, explaining puzzling experimental results
  • magnetoelectric effects and multiferroics, switching, non-collinear magnetism
  • domain walls in ferroic materials, their static properties and dynamics
  • constructing model Hamiltonians and computing model parameters from first principles
  • ultrafast phenomena in ferroic materials
  • theoretical spectroscopy in materials with strongly-correlated electrons

The requirements are an excellent command of condensed matter physics and command of English. Command of Mathematica, ability to perform analytical or numerical calculations are advantageous for the position. The Associates will present results at international conferences, will have opportunities to co-supervise PhD students and contribute to teaching.
