Job announcements relevant to people interested in electronic structure calculations…

Due to the large number of posts recently, there is currently a delay of several weeks between posts being submitted and the corresponding emails being distributed to all users. Please bear with us while we try to improve this. In the meantime – and until this notice is removed – it would assist us considerably if you could submit only important and/or urgent posts and thus help to reduce the size of the mail queue. Under no circumstances should you resend posts multiple times when you find the emails are not distributed immediately.

In light of the Russian military offensive in Ukraine, we request that announcements relating to events, jobs and other activities associated with institutions supported by the Russian and Belarusian states are not posted to the Psi-k forum.

The Aragonese Foundation for Research & Development (ARAID) has opened an International Call for the Recruitment of Researchers to work at public or private research institutes based in the Spanish region of Aragón. Candidates have to submit their applications through one of these research institutes. The successful candidates will be offered a full-time permanent position.

The Aragon Nanoscience and Materials Institute (INMA), a joint research centre between the Spanish National Research Council (CSIC) and the University of Zaragoza, is looking for young, motivated candidates to apply to this call and set up their own research group at INMA in one of these two areas:

  • Experimental Nanophotonics.
  • Computation of Material properties with Ab-initio methods.

R&D&I activities at INMA draw on its multidisciplinary nature, which includes expertise in Materials Theory, Synthesis of molecular and supramolecular entities, Polymer Chemistry, Photonics, Magnetism, Superconductivity, Quantum Technologies, Additive Manufacturing, Biotechnology, Electronics and Nanotechnology.

While a large number of groups at INMA are working with plasmonic nanostructures for chemical sensors, biosensors, photocatalytic and biomedical applications, advanced optical characterization is mainly carried out in the framework of external collaborations. On the other hand, numerous groups are working on synthesis, processing and scaling up of advanced functional materials towards specific applications, but the multiscale simulation of the interrelationships between the chemical composition, the nano/microstructure and the final properties of the envisioned materials/devices is not attempted.

Thus, INMA aims to:

  • boost the scientific impact of its plasmonics-related research by incorporating a leader in the field of "Experimental Nanophotonics", capable of designing innovative strategies for practical applications;
  • accelerate the technological development of its smart materials/devices by incorporating a research leader in the field of  "Computation of Material Properties with Ab-Initio Methods".

Candidates are required to have a minimum of 6 years of postdoctoral experience by the end of the application submission period (end of February 2022).

If you are interested, please contact Prof. Luis Martin Moreno ([email protected]) before February 1st, 2022.
