Job announcements relevant to people interested in electronic structure calculations…

Due to the large number of posts recently, there is currently a delay of several weeks between posts being submitted and the corresponding emails being distributed to all users. Please bear with us while we try to improve this. In the meantime – and until this notice is removed – it would assist us considerably if you could submit only important and/or urgent posts and thus help to reduce the size of the mail queue. Under no circumstances should you resend posts multiple times when you find the emails are not distributed immediately.

In light of the Russian military offensive in Ukraine, we request that announcements relating to events, jobs and other activities associated with institutions supported by the Russian and Belarusian states are not posted to the Psi-k forum.

The Virtual Engineering Center at Korea Institute of Ceramic Engineering and Technology (KICET) in South Korea is accepting applications for research positions in the fields of Materials Science and Engineering.

KICET is a government-funded, highly ranked, and active research institute in materials science and engineering in South Korea. The KICET has reputed research staffs engaged in nationally and internationally recognized research programs on energy conversion & storage materials, electronic materials, ceramics, nanomaterials, and biomaterials.

Areas of interest include atomic-scale simulations (DFT and MD), continuum-scale simulations (FEM) materials informatics using machine learning (ML). The application areas of simulation span power semiconductors, energy harvesters, dielectrics, batteries, and structural ceramics, and related processing. Recently, we are integrating our computational tools and database with machine learning for smart manufacturing. Experience in simulation, programming, and machine learning is preferred but not necessary. Please visit our website at https://sites.google.com/view/csb4m for more details.

The Virtual Engineering Center is seeking for candidates to study Ph.D. degree in Materials Science or closely related field. Since KICET is not an academic university but a research institute, KICET has joint programs with collaborating universities. The student researchers should complete coursework in such universities (e.g. Gyeongsang National University (GSNU) located in the same city with KICET or Changwon National University located in Changwon-si). Applicants who have expertise in advanced ceramics, ceramic processing, materials chemistry or physics are especially favored.

Topics (not limited) for Ph.D. students, beginning Fall Semester (September) 2020:

  1. Materials discovery using machine learning and predictive simulations
  2. Study on Metastability and synthesizability of functional materials
  3. Multiscale modeling of triboelectric, hydrovoltaic energy harvesters.
  4. Multiscale modeling of semiconductor deposition process of CVD, PVD, ALD

Each topic will be studied with close collaboration with the experimental groups. Please visit our website (https://sites.google.com/view/csb4m)

Applications for the Fall Semester 2020 should be submitted by March 30, 2020.
