Long term Postdoc Position in Theory of ultrafast phenomena at University of Trento
We advertise the opening of a Postdoc position in condensed matter theory at the Physics departement of the University of Trento, Italy.
The main subject of research is the theoretical description of topological, magnetic and structural transitions induced by femptoseconds light pulses in solids, quantum and 2D materials. Methods of choice will be first principles and manybody approaches.
The post-doc is funded by the ERC Advanced Grand DELIGHT (PI Matteo Calandra, Starting date October 2022).
The net salary is 35 KEuros/year, very competitive with respect to equivalent positions in Italy. The contract is for a period of two years but can be extended for longer times.
The first deadline for application is the 25th of January 2023.
The interested candidate should hold a PhD in Theoretical Physics or Quantum Chemistry and have experience in the field of electronic structure calculations applied to solids, 2D materials and periodic systems. Experience in methodological or code developments in the field of first principles or manybody perturbation theory methods will be considered a plus.
The postdoc will join the Materials Theory group at the department of physics at the University of Trento. The group is headed by Matteo Calandra in a very friendly environment of research with excellent computational facilities. The group is a member of the National Center for High Performance Computing funded by the recent NextGenerationEU program.
The University of Trento is ideally situated in the heart of the Dolomites, in a region protected by UNESCO world heritage with independent administration from the rest of the country (Autonomous Province of Trento). Equality and cultural diversity are among the founding principles of our University.
