Dear Colleague,

The Scientific Computing Department of the UK Science and Technology Facilities Council (SCD-STFC) has asked Technopolis to evaluate the programme under its Service Level Agreement (SLA) with the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council (EPSRC). This is motivated by SCD’s commitment to continuous improvement and engagement with the communities it supports. The results of the survey will also feed into the International mid-term review of the SLA programme, which EPSRC is organising for the Autumn.

The aim of the SLA programme is to provide computational science support to UK academic communities in research areas funded by EPSRC, in order to facilitate the advancement of computational science and engineering, and also to support the efficient exploitation of the full spectrum of local and national computing facilities. More information about the SLA programme can be found via STFC’s website

An important aspect of this evaluation is to gather input from researchers that have engaged with SLA-supported Collaborative Computational Projects (CCPs) and High-end Computing Consortia (HECs), in a variety of forms (managing the communities, using codes, attending dissemination and training events, etc.). Some of you might be aware, that the Psi-k network originated from CCP9, the Collaborative Computational Project for the Study of the Electronic Structure of Condensed Matter. As a result, we would really value your feedback. This survey has been distributed via the mailing lists managed by CCPs and HECs, with permission from the Chairs of these communities and should take no more than 15 minutes to complete. The deadline for taking the survey is end of this month. We look forward to your feedback

Please follow the link to participate in the survey

If you have any questions or comments about this study please do not hesitate to contact Xavier Potau ([email protected]) at Technopolis. If you have any other queries for STFC with respect to the survey, please contact Sarah Billingham ([email protected]) at STFC.

Thank you in advance for your participation and input to this study.

Kind regards,

Stewart Clark, CCP9 Chair
Leon Petit, CCP9 Scientific Officer
