Dear Psi-k'ers,

with the current COVID-19 situation causing the cancellation of major events and conferences around the world, there is now significant uncertainty regarding the Psi-k 2020 conference (https://www.psik2020.net) as well.

Although we are still hoping that the conference can take place as planned this September 14–17, we are following the evolution of the situation closely and expect to have a clearer idea in the next few weeks regarding whether it is realistic to maintain the event, or whether we need to postpone it by one year; contingency plans are already in place.

We would like to mention the following important points:

  • In order to avoid incurring any potential cancellation costs, we recommend that you refrain from making any travel plans for the time being.
  • The registration system has been suspended until a final decision is made — if the conference is maintained this year, all registration deadlines will be extended. Participants who had already registered will be contacted once a final decision is made.
  • In the event of a postponement the structure of the conference will be preserved, including symposia and plenary and invited speakers; we would then ask all to reconfirm availability. Contributed speakers would then be chosen around May 2021 (rather than May 2020) among submitted abstracts.

We thank you for your patience in these exceptional times, and we wish everyone to stay strong and healthy.

With warmest regards,

Nicola Marzari (Psi-k Chair)
