23rd ETSF Workshop on Electronic Excitations: Interdisciplinary views on quantum many-body theory

to be held at the University of Milan, Italy, on 10-14 September 2018

The bi-annual ETSF Workshop series provides a forum for excited states and spectroscopy in condensed matter physics, chemistry, nanoscience, materials science and molecular physics attracting theoreticians, code developers and experimentalists alike.

The 2018 edition aims at fostering the cross-fertilization between different approaches to many-body phenomena, transcending the traditional barriers between disciplines.

Topics covered by the workshop will include:

  • Ultrafast excitation dynamics

  • Topological insulators

  • Quantum transport

  • Machine learning

  • Data science

  • Quantum chemistry

  • Nuclear physics

Invited speakers (theoreticians):

  • Irene Burghardt, University of Frankfurt, Germany

  • Stefano Carrazza, CERN, Switzerland

  • Gianluca Colò, University of Milan, Italy

  • Cristiana Di Valentin, University of Milano-Bicocca, Italy

  • Giulia Galli, University of Chicago, USA

  • Hardy Gross, Max Planck Institute of Microstructure Physics Halle, Germany

  • Miguel Marques, University of Halle, Germany

  • Rocco Martinazzo, University of Milan, Italy

  • Cristiane de Morais Smith, University of Utrecht, The Netherlands

  • Patrick Rinke, Aalto University, Finland

Invited speakers (experimentalists):

  • Giulio Cerullo, Politecnico di Milano, Italy

  • Markus Morgenstern, RWTH Aachen University, Germany

  • Petra Rudolf, University of Groningen, The Netherlands

Invited speakers (science policy round table):

  • Tomas Brage, Lund University, Sweden
