University lecturer, physics
with emphasis on teaching, permanent position starting 1.1.2018.
Position
The position, with emphasis on teaching, will be filled at the Nano and Molecular Systems Research Unit (NANOMO) in the field of physics. At the moment, the unit consists of 3 professors and several other teachers, researchers and graduate students. The unit is involved in teaching on the BSc, MSc and PhD levels in the field of physics.
The university lecturer position has emphasis on teaching. The person nominated in the position is supposed to teach on basic, intermediate, and advanced level and supervise BSc, MSc and PhD theses within the total annual 1624 hours working time, as agreed in the collective labor agreement and the annually updated working plan. He/she is also supposed to act as a responsible person of the BSc program for mathematics and physics and the MSc program in physics. The university lecturer is also assumed to conduct scientific research in the NANOMO unit and follow the recent scientific advances in the field. In addition, he/she will participate in other university related work. The BSc level teaching is mainly given in Finnish, therefore the person chosen for the position is assumed to speak and understand the Finnish language
Salary
The salary of the university lecturer is on the salary level 6 of the university teaching and research personnel. In addition, a personal bonus up to 46.3% of the basic salary will be paid. The level of the salary will be updated according to a regularly performed evaluation.
Requirements for the position
The university lecturer is expected to have a PhD in the field of physics, pedagogical training and a title of docent or corresponding competence as evidenced by international publications. Interest in physics teaching, earned teaching awards and research in physics didactics will be considered as a special asset.
The general competence requirements have been defined at the University of Oulu by-laws as of November 23 2015.

Teaching demonstration and interview
