Looking for a challenging and rewarding opportunity in the field of computational materials physics? The University of Vienna's computational materials physics group is seeking candidates to join our team! The position is appointed for 6 years and applications are accepted until 31st of May.

Led by world-renowned physicist G. Kresse, our group is dedicated to developing cutting-edge methods based on quantum mechanics to describe condensed matter systems. We are proud to have developed the highly successful software package VASP (Vienna ab-initio Simulation Package), and our team consists of two full Professors, one associate Professor, several PostDocs and about 10 PhD students, as well as master students.

As a member of our team, you'll have access to our local cluster and the Vienna Scientific Cluster (VSC), a supercomputer shared between the major Universities of Austria, giving you the tools you need to tackle complex problems in the physics of oxides, semiconductors and their surfaces.  We are looking for candidates who have an outstanding record or show exceptional promise in any area of computational theoretical solid state physics, including modelling of oxides and their surfaces, catalysis and machine learning techniques. Candidates with expertise in developing new computational methods and applying them on high-performance computers will be given preference.

In addition to working with a dedicated team, the successful candidate will have the opportunity to collaborate with experimental and other theory groups in Vienna, contributing to the cutting-edge research being conducted in the field of the SFB TACO (https://sfb-taco.at/ a large joint research project funded by the Austrian science fund).

All applications shall include i) letter of motivation ii) CV including full academic record iii) list of courses as well as lists of publications and talks including one or two reprints representative of previous research iv) expression of research interest and potentially research agenda of an intended habilitation project (two pages) v) ideally two letters of recommendation.

Applications must be submitted exclusively through the job center of the University of Vienna. Kennzahl der Ausschreibung: 14012
