Job announcements relevant to people interested in electronic structure calculations…

Due to the large number of posts recently, there is currently a delay of several weeks between posts being submitted and the corresponding emails being distributed to all users. Please bear with us while we try to improve this. In the meantime – and until this notice is removed – it would assist us considerably if you could submit only important and/or urgent posts and thus help to reduce the size of the mail queue. Under no circumstances should you resend posts multiple times when you find the emails are not distributed immediately.

In light of the Russian military offensive in Ukraine, we request that announcements relating to events, jobs and other activities associated with institutions supported by the Russian and Belarusian states are not posted to the Psi-k forum.

Two-year postdoctoral position is open in the group of Prof. Olle Eriksson at the Department of Physics and Astronomy of the Uppsala University (Sweden) starting from 1st August 2022. The position will be financed by the Göran Gustafsson prize, received by Dr. Vladislav Borisov who is working in the same group.

The intended scope of postdoctoral research will be concerned with magnetic materials and related phenomena on different length scales, between several Ångström and hundreds of nanometers. Systems of interest are topological magnets with skyrmions, including bulk and low-dimensional systems. First-principles methods based on density functional theory and dynamical mean-field theory (DMFT) will be applied to study the electronic properties and magnetic interactions, while atomistic spin dynamics and micromagnetic simulations will be used to model magnetic textures on a larger scale. The postdoctoral researcher will have a possibility to work with theoretical and experimental groups at the Ångström laboratory of the Uppsala University and to use computational resources of the Swedish National Infrastructure for Computing. The total amount of the tax-free postdoctoral stipend for two years will be 648,000 SEK.

Candidates with the corresponding background and experience in first-principles calculations are welcome to apply for the position. Experience with DMFT, spin dynamics and micromagnetics as well as method development and programming will be highly beneficial but not required to apply for the position, and when necessary these methods can be learned in the beginning of the project.

If interested, please send your CV, list of publications and brief description (0.5-1.0 page) of research interests and previous accomplishments to Dr. Vladislav Borisov (
[email protected]) and Prof. Olle Eriksson ([email protected]) by 20th June 2022.
