Job announcements relevant to people interested in electronic structure calculations…

Due to the large number of posts recently, there is currently a delay of several weeks between posts being submitted and the corresponding emails being distributed to all users. Please bear with us while we try to improve this. In the meantime – and until this notice is removed – it would assist us considerably if you could submit only important and/or urgent posts and thus help to reduce the size of the mail queue. Under no circumstances should you resend posts multiple times when you find the emails are not distributed immediately.

In light of the Russian military offensive in Ukraine, we request that announcements relating to events, jobs and other activities associated with institutions supported by the Russian and Belarusian states are not posted to the Psi-k forum.

Applications are welcomed for a 2-year post-doctoral position in modeling strongly correlated system with DFT techniques.   The research will be carried out at the Department of Physics of Sapienza University under the supervision of José Lorenzana (ISC-CNR) and Paolo Barone (SPIN-CNR).  The appointee will join the Theoretical Condensed Matter group at the Department of Physics with strong interactions with many experimental groups working on strongly correlated and non-equilibrium physics. Research will focus on modeling new bulk materials and interfaces using DFT theory as a starting point to build realistic models and establish fruitful collaborations with the experimental partners.

Job Requirements

The successful applicant will have a PhD in Physics, Computational/Theoretical Materials Science and research experience in DFT. The applicant should also be able to demonstrate excellent mathematical and computer programming skills and an ability to define, investigate and solve complex problems. Excellent written and oral communication skills and the ability to work in a team is also essential.

Applications should be sent to [email protected]. They should contain a CV and the contacts of senior scientists who can provide recommendation letters (only upon our request). Earlier applications will be given higher priority. Interested candidates are encouraged to send the application immediately.
