Two postdoc positions in computational catalysis ... (No replies)
Back to Job listings...
Two postdoc positions are available at the SUNCAT Center for Interface Science and Catalysis at SLAC National Accelerator Laboratory in Menlo Park, California, USA. The appointments are for 1 year with a possible extension of 1 year (1+1) based on successful productivity and funding.
Position 1: Postdoc in theoretical thermal catalysis
https://suncat.stanford.edu/opportunities/post-doctoral-research-fellow-theoretical-thermal-catalysis
The project focuses on developing an understanding of chemical reactions, such as alkane dehydrogenation or syngas to oxygenates, applying site-specific correlations recently introduced from our group. The work will require development of new or expansion of already existing models describing surface specific phenomena coupled with kinetic modeling of reactivity.
The ideal candidate should have a PhD in Chemical Engineering, Physics or Chemistry and possess a detailed understanding of the modeling of surfaces within density functional theory and its application in heterogeneous catalysis. Some knowledge about energy correlations and their limitations in heterogeneous catalysis is desirable. Mid- to high-level programming skills are necessary to run the DFT and micro-Kinetics codes. The applicant is required to have good team skills and should possess the ability to handle and monitor several projects at the same time. Oral and written competency in the English language is essential.
Position 2: Postdoc in catalysis data science
https://suncat.stanford.edu/opportunities/post-doctoral-research-fellow-catalysis-data-science
The project focuses on developing structure-property relationships linked directly to thermal as well as electrochemical catalysis using deep-learning methods from the computer science community.
The ideal candidate should have a PhD in Physics, Chemistry or Chemical Engineering and possess a detailed understanding of the modeling of surfaces within density functional theory and its application in heterogeneous catalysis. Strong programming skills in Python and experience with scientific software development, machine-learning and/or statistical modeling are required. The applicant is expected to have good team skills and should possess the ability to handle and monitor several projects at the same time. Oral and written competency in the English language is essential.
