Job announcements relevant to people interested in electronic structure calculations…

Due to the large number of posts recently, there is currently a 3-4 week delay between posts being submitted and emails being sent to the mailing list. Please bear with us while we try to improve this.

In light of the Russian military offensive in Ukraine, we request that announcements relating to events, jobs and other activities associated with institutions supported by the Russian and Belarusian states are not posted to the Psi-k forum.

The newly established Juraschek Laboratory for Dynamical Quantum Matter located at the School of Physics and Astronomy at Tel Aviv University has two openings for PhD students in nonlinear phononic control of quantum materials.

Project description

You will use a combination of first-principles computational methods and microscopic and phenomenological modeling to investigate how nonlinear vibrational excitation of bulk and low-dimensional quantum materials can change electronic properties, such as magnetism, ferroelectricity, and topology.

Candidate’s profile
We are looking for highly motivated candidates of any nationality and gender with a background in physics, materials science, chemistry, or a related field. A background in condensed matter physics, materials physics, or physical chemistry is a bonus, as is (basic) prior programming knowledge.

Interested? Please send your CV, an outline of interests (max. 1 page), and contact details of 2-3 references directly to [email protected]
Further information about the group can be found at http://www.jurascheklab.com

Feel free to write about any questions you may have.

Review of applications will begin January 2022 and continue until the positions are filled. Starting dates are flexible throughout the year.
