Job announcements relevant to people interested in electronic structure calculations…

Due to the large number of posts recently, there is currently a delay of several weeks between posts being submitted and the corresponding emails being distributed to all users. Please bear with us while we try to improve this. In the meantime – and until this notice is removed – it would assist us considerably if you could submit only important and/or urgent posts and thus help to reduce the size of the mail queue. Under no circumstances should you resend posts multiple times when you find the emails are not distributed immediately.

In light of the Russian military offensive in Ukraine, we request that announcements relating to events, jobs and other activities associated with institutions supported by the Russian and Belarusian states are not posted to the Psi-k forum.

There are two PhD positions for well-qualified and highly motivated students who are interested in applying computational tools for materials design related to clean energy technologies. The research objective is to employ highly accurate computational methods based on density functional theory (DFT) to design novel materials for clean energy technologies. Areas of interest include catalysis, hydrogen storage, and optoelectronics.

Students with a background in Chemistry, Physics, Material Science or related discipline are encouraged to apply. The ideal candidate will have a passion for material simulations and possess excellent written and oral communication skills. Experience with computational software (e.g. VASP, Quantum ESPRESSO) and programming languages (e.g. Fortran and Python) is highly desirable.

How to apply

Interested applicants should send their CV, transcripts, and contact information of three references to Dr. Mohammadreza Karamad at [email protected].

Prospective graduate students should apply to the PhD program in the Department of Physics and Astronomy at the University of Calgary. For further information on the application process please visit:
