Dear prospective candidates,

The NEM Lab for Battery Materials at Department of Energy Engineering, Hanyang University (https://nem.hanyang.ac.kr/research/overview) is currently seeking a dedicated individual to join our team for a Ph.D. position. We are specifically looking for a candidate with expertise in Density Functional Theory to contribute to collaborative experimental battery projects (https://shorturl.at/jrxIW) for 2024 SPRING (March-24).

As a member of our research group, you will have access to high performing supercomputing resources from both local and external High-Performance Computing (HPC) centers. Throughout your thesis, you will be guided in the understanding and simulation of molecular dynamics methods at quantum levels, involving calculations of electronic structure, thermodynamic quantities, voltage plots, SEI-electrode interface, and other relevant aspects related to the electrochemical performance.

We believe that an essential part of scientific progress lies in collaboration, and as part of our team, you will have opportunities for scientific exchange with external collaborators. We are seeking candidates with a strong background focused on Theoretical Condensed Matter and who possess the motivation for theoretical development and constructive interaction within the group.

  • Applicants must hold a Master's degree with a minimum average score of 65% and a degree classification of Merit or above.
  • Applicants should also possess a Bachelor's degree at upper second class or above level..
  • A valid TOEFL or IELTS score is required.
