Applications are invited for three doctoral research positions in Spring/Fall 2023 in the Program of Materials Science, the Department of Mechanical Engineering, or the Department of Physics at the University of Vermont. Successful candidates will work under the supervision of Prof. Jihong Ma at the University of Vermont on projects related to 1) atomistic simulations of polymers and 2) atomistic simulations of nanocrystals. These projects are funded by US-DOE and NSF. The candidates should have a strong physics, chemistry, and mathematics background and preferably have experience in DFT, DFTB, MD, and/or MM simulations.
Interested candidates should send a CV with a publication list, a short description of research interests, a course transcript, and names of three references from previous research positions to [email protected]. Candidates will also need to apply and be admitted to the University of Vermont Department of Mechanical Engineering, Department of Physics, or Materials Science graduate program. Please contact Dr. Ma before submitting your application.
Review of applications will begin immediately and continue until suitable candidates are identified. More information about Prof. Ma’s group and UVM can be found at Jihong Ma's Group (google.com).
Only selected candidates will be contacted. Please do not send multiple emails.
