The Centre of Excellence in Astrophysics and Astrochemistry (CEAA) invites applications for assistant professor positions in the general field of quantum chemistry, chemical physics, molecular physics, theoretical spectroscopy. In particular, we seek candidates with expertise in research areas such as quantum/classical molecular dynamics, ab-initio molecular dynamics, studies of phenomena between phases (gas-surface), photochemistry including multiscale modelling, quantum computing in chemical physics.
However, we will be happy to consider all applications where the researcher complements the competencies of the Quantum Mechanics Division and CEAA and meets high scientific standards. We are looking for an established researcher (after 1-3 postdoctoral positions) who is eager to perform research and build an independent research group.
Demands:
- PhD in physics, chemistry, or a related field.
- Excellent scientific achievements in chemical physics/quantum chemistry. A track record of being the leading author (first author or corresponding author) is essential.
- Good knowledge of written and spoken English.
- Eagerness to perform research and build an independent research group.

The gross salary is 8500 PLN/ month without teaching duties within the first three years. Note the average cost of living in Torun is 3000 PLN. The position is limited to 3 years and will be extended permanently after a positive evaluation. The employment is expected to start on December 1st, 2021, but a later date may be negotiated.

The Centre was established on January 1, 2020 for 6 years as a result of the research university status granted to the Nicolaus Copernicus University in Torun by the Ministry of Science and Higher Education. The Center gathers the key researchers from the University in the fields of astronomy and quantum chemistry. The Faculty of Physics's experimental environment is built around quantum optics, modern spectroscopy, material science, and cold matter physics.
