Job announcements relevant to people interested in electronic structure calculations…

Due to the large number of posts recently, there is currently a 3-4 week delay between posts being submitted and emails being sent to the mailing list. Please bear with us while we try to improve this.

In light of the Russian military offensive in Ukraine, we request that announcements relating to events, jobs and other activities associated with institutions supported by the Russian and Belarusian states are not posted to the Psi-k forum.

Tenure Track W2-position on Theory of Quantum-Dynamical Processes in Many-Body Systems at the Institute for Theoretical Physics, University of Regensburg, Germany.

Description

The appointment will initially be for a period of six years with the legal status of temporary civil servant (Beamtenverhältnis auf Zeit). The tenure-track professorship is supported by the joint state-federal program for the advancement of young scientists (“Tenure-Track Programm des Bundes und der Länder”). The professorship aims to forge transparent pathways for young academics so they can plan their advancement to a permanent professorship. We explicitly encourage applications from junior academics who have only recently been awarded their doctorate. Universität Regensburg offers the prospect, upon positive tenure evaluation, of transferring to a permanent position as a W2-grade professor with the legal status of civil servant for life (Beamtenverhältnis auf Lebenszeit).

Demands

We are looking for a highly qualified scientist with an innovative scientific profile, outstanding scientific achievements and extraordinary potential for their further academic career. The expertise of the person to be appointed lies in the area of quantum dynamic processes in correlated many-particle systems. She / he should have profound methodological knowledge in this research field, e.g., in analytical theories of non-equilibrium phenomena or modern numerical simulation methods. An interest in cooperating with the interdisciplinary Regensburg Center for Ultrafast Nanoscopy (RUN), the DFG Collaborative Research Center 1277 on “Emergent relativistic phenomena in condensed matter”, and in future coordinated research programs of the department is expected. The candidate should be qualified to successfully lead a junior research group in condensed matter theory and to take on project management in collaborative research projects.

Application

Applications containing resumé, certificates, list of publications, descriptions of possible research projects, a record of third-party funding, and description of teaching experience, should be submitted electronically and as a single document to the Dean, Department of Physics, email: [email protected] . In addition, candidates are asked to name three scientists (with full addresses) who would be willing to provide letters of support upon request.

The application deadline is September 15, 2021.
