Job announcements relevant to people interested in electronic structure calculations…

Due to the large number of posts recently, there is currently a delay of several weeks between posts being submitted and the corresponding emails being distributed to all users. Please bear with us while we try to improve this. In the meantime – and until this notice is removed – it would assist us considerably if you could submit only important and/or urgent posts and thus help to reduce the size of the mail queue. Under no circumstances should you resend posts multiple times when you find the emails are not distributed immediately.

In light of the Russian military offensive in Ukraine, we request that announcements relating to events, jobs and other activities associated with institutions supported by the Russian and Belarusian states are not posted to the Psi-k forum.

Dear Psik'ers,

this is to announce the opening at EPFL in the Institute of Materials of a faculty position in computational materials science, as part of the long-term support measures for the National Centre for Computational Design and Discovery of Novel Materials MARVEL, as it enters its 3rd phase (2022-26).

Applications are invited covering research in any area of computational materials science, with a particular focus on computational and data-driven materials discovery. Examples of topics of interests include, but are not limited to, the development of theoretical and computational methods for materials modeling, and/or their application to understand, predict, design, and discover novel materials.

The opening is at the tenure-track, assistant professor level; under exceptional circumstances an appointment at a more senior, tenured level may be considered. Internationally competitive salaries and start-up resources, sustained internal funding, and benefits are offered; EPFL is currently ranked 14th worldwide in the QS Rankings, and the Institute of Materials is its top-ranked department, 7th worldwide. In addition to a broad community of computational scientists, EPFL benefits from hosting on campus CECAM, with a very active program of conferences, workshops and schools across many domains of computational science.

For full consideration applications should be submitted by 14th December 2020, midnight Central European Time at this website.

More information about the Institute of Materials, EPFL, and the MARVEL NCCR can be found in their respective websites.

A flyer for the advertisement is attached, and can be found here; I'd be grateful if you could post/disseminate it.

Many thanks for your attention,
