Job announcements relevant to people interested in electronic structure calculations…

Due to the large number of posts recently, there is currently a delay of several weeks between posts being submitted and the corresponding emails being distributed to all users. Please bear with us while we try to improve this. In the meantime – and until this notice is removed – it would assist us considerably if you could submit only important and/or urgent posts and thus help to reduce the size of the mail queue. Under no circumstances should you resend posts multiple times when you find the emails are not distributed immediately.

In light of the Russian military offensive in Ukraine, we request that announcements relating to events, jobs and other activities associated with institutions supported by the Russian and Belarusian states are not posted to the Psi-k forum.

The selected candidate will be joining the research activity in the group of Dr. Hena Das. DAS group employs various microscopic models and density functional theory (DFT) based calculations to understand and predict the quantum phenomena in materials at the level of atoms and electrons. The DAS group aims to develop quantitative guidelines to tailor properties of materials in order to design novel materials/phenomena. The Assistant Professor will participate in DAS Lab’s research projects which will be primarily focused on electronic and magnetic materials.

Candidate should have a Ph.D. degree in physics, chemistry, materials science or related fields. Candidate should have prior experience with first-principles calculations at the level of DFT and preferably atomistic simulation methods. The successful candidate should have substantial experience and track records of research (in terms of high-quality journal publications and top conference publications) in the field of theoretical and computational materials physics and related area. The successful candidate should also have strong problem-solving and excellent collaboration skills.

The successful candidate will be required to engage in the education at Graduate Major in Materials Science and Engineering, Department of Materials Science and Engineering, School of Materials and Chemical Technology.

The position is available from April 1st, 2019 (or the earliest possible date thereafter) up to March 31st, 2022. Further continuation is subject to availability of funds and performance.

Applicants are invited to submit an application with,
