Job announcements relevant to people interested in electronic structure calculations…

Due to the large number of posts recently, there is currently a delay of several weeks between posts being submitted and the corresponding emails being distributed to all users. Please bear with us while we try to improve this. In the meantime – and until this notice is removed – it would assist us considerably if you could submit only important and/or urgent posts and thus help to reduce the size of the mail queue. Under no circumstances should you resend posts multiple times when you find the emails are not distributed immediately.

In light of the Russian military offensive in Ukraine, we request that announcements relating to events, jobs and other activities associated with institutions supported by the Russian and Belarusian states are not posted to the Psi-k forum.

The Max Planck Institute for the Structure and Dynamics of Matter (MPSD) is located at the Science Campus Hamburg-Bahrenfeld and investigates dynamical phenomena within matter down to the elementary timescales of atomic and electronic motions, the femtosecond or attosecond timescale. The focus is on the use of short wavelength ultrafast probes, such as X-rays or electron pulses, which are capable of measuring atomic and electronic structures in matter of all kinds.

For our TheoryDepartment we are seeking for a Software Developer (m/f/d)

Your position:

The successful candidate will work on the maintenance and development of the in-house scientific computer program OCTOPUS, a package aimed at the first principles simulation of the response of molecules, nanostructures and solids to arbitrary time dependent external perturbations and on improving the performance and massive parallelization of the code. He/she will also contribute to the training of the students in the proper use of the code and in the best software development practices used within the department. He/she will also support the software implementation of new concepts and algorithms.

The candidate should integrate into a very active and multidisciplinary international research group and would collaborate with the Department-IT personnel to coordinate all computer and IT services relevant for the Theory Department.
