Job announcements relevant to people interested in electronic structure calculations…

Due to the large number of posts recently, there is currently a delay of several weeks between posts being submitted and the corresponding emails being distributed to all users. Please bear with us while we try to improve this. In the meantime – and until this notice is removed – it would assist us considerably if you could submit only important and/or urgent posts and thus help to reduce the size of the mail queue. Under no circumstances should you resend posts multiple times when you find the emails are not distributed immediately.

In light of the Russian military offensive in Ukraine, we request that announcements relating to events, jobs and other activities associated with institutions supported by the Russian and Belarusian states are not posted to the Psi-k forum.

The Hautier group is looking for several PhD students to start Fall 2023 (or earlier). The students positions are fully funded (stipend, health insurance and tuition covered). We are a research group focusing on computationally-driven materials discovery, especially using high-throughput techniques and machine learning. We are co-PI of the Materials Project. We are based in Dartmouth in New Hampshire (USA). Dartmouth is an Ivy League institution offering outstanding education and research experience in a superb environment.

The students should have a degree in Materials Science, physics, chemistry or equivalent. There is no need for previous experience in first principles computations. Previous experience in research is always valued. The current research topics focus on computational screening for materials with optimal defect as well as opto-electronic properties in fields ranging from quantum computing to electronics and photovoltaics.

The PhD student will need to apply to the Dartmouth PhD program. Prof. Hautier holds a primary appointment in Engineering as well as an adjunct appointment in Physics. The student could apply to any of these two programs.

The deadline for application in the Engineering program is December 15th but later application could still be considered (although without priority). We encourage the interested applicants to reach our to Prof. Hautier ([email protected]) before or after applying. Please use the subject “PhD applicant 2023”.
