A number of doctoral positions in Computational Materials Science are available in the group of Prof. Dr. Karsten Albe in the Institute of Materials Science at TU Darmstadt, Germany.
Present research topics include modelling of defects (grain boundaries, polarons, dopants) in perovskite ceramics, ion transport in battery materials, interphase phenomena in composite materials.

We are looking for candidates with a strong background in materials science or condensed matter physics as well as in semiconductor physics. Experience with atomistic simulation methods is a plus. Also a strong motivation to interact with experimentalists is required. In the german system the dissertation phase is fully focused on research and there are no mandatory courses. The annual salary is starting at about 40.000 Euro/y following the collective agreements which apply to Technische Universität Darmstadt (TV-TU Darmstadt).
