Dear all,

The application development team within the Computational Chemistry Group at STFC Daresbury Laboratory is looking for Computational Scientists with strong background in both Materials Science & Software Engineering.  CCP5 funding is available for roles to deliver development in two area of interest to the community - (i) shaped particle dynamics (Gay-Berne) and (ii) reactive-forcefield (EVB) capability.

About the Job

You will carry out computational research involving integration and development of new algorithms for molecular modelling.  You will be versed in application mathematics and statistical physics and have experience in computational modelling.  You need to be able to work with other members of the team to design and craft software solutions in a portable and sustainable manner.

About you

You will be expected to use agile tools and techniques to play a full part in all aspects of the software development life-cycle and take the lead as appropriate.  You will need to be able to make sound technical decisions based on a broad experience to guide our development.

You will be educated to a Postgraduate Degree (PhD, etc.) level in a physical, engineering, computational science or mathematics or demonstrate significant relevant experience.

You will have expertise in the application of particle-based simulation methods (MD, MC, QLD, CD, etc.) and have significant scientific programming experience - strong skills in Fortran, C, git, bash, Linux, make, cmake, LaTeX.

You will have experience working with HPC and parallelisation paradigms – replicated data, domain decomposition, mesh generation, numerical discretisation and derivatives derivations.

You will have a professional approach, and an analytical, logical and quick learning mind, able to communicate clearly with fellow developers, modellers and theoretical colleagues alike both verbally and written.
