Applications are invited for a PDRA position in computational materials modelling at the Department of Chemistry, University of Manchester.

This is a UKRI-funded post to apply cutting-edge theoretical modelling to optimise the heat transport in materials for thermoelectric (TE) power. You will use first-principles modelling to predict and analyse the heat transport in a wide range of materials, with the aim of improving our fundamental understanding of how the thermal properties of complex materials “work”, and thereby advancing design rules for selecting and optimising future high-performance TEs.

As part of the project, you will perform state-of-the-art modelling calculations; develop/extend theoretical methods and analysis techniques; work as part of a diverse research team including collaborators from academia and industry; and be given extensive opportunities and support for career development.

The position is available from January 2021 for 36 months in the first instance.

Salary: £32,816 to £40,322 p/a depending on experience.

Informal inquires welcome - please e-mail [email protected].
