Research Assistant Professor Position (Non-Tenure Track) in The Computational Chemical and Materials Sciences

A position for a Research Assistant Professor will be opening in the research group of Prof. Anh Ngo (at University of Illinois – Chicago) with the earliest start date of January 3, 2022, in the Computational Chemical and Materials Sciences.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Applicants should have expertise in the following areas: 1. Density functional theory (DFT), Reactive Molecular Dynamics, 2. Strong background in programming in Python or Fortran, and 3. Computational works in DFT for solids/liquid surfaces and interfaces. Expertise in machine learning for advanced battery materials is highly desirable.

The applicant must have a PhD degree in Physics, Chemistry. A PhD degree in Theoretical/computational Chemistry is acceptable only if the applicant has had substantial experience working in Computational Chemical/physics and Materials Science. Depending on the stage of career, the applicant must also exhibit a strong publication record.

Candidate also demonstrate strong leadership and experience related to conducting research in the field of ‘Computational Materials Science, Renewable Energy and Advanced Battery Research’.

Develop new courses and classroom curriculum and teach two courses related to ‘electrochemistry’, ‘computational modelling’, ‘advanced battery research’ and ‘renewable energy’. Advise graduate and undergraduate students of the department.

APPOINTMENTS/BENEFITS: This position is a 12-month full-time appointment on the nontenure track. The position is renewable, depending upon performance and funding. The position remains open until filled.

SALARY:  The salary will be commensurate with experience and achievement. Funding is available from DOE resources.
